On January 31, DOLLY will be launching The Kindness Experiment Day where we’re encouraging you guys (and the DOLLY staff!) to do one kind thing for another person.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money or hire a surprise elephant to make someone else’s day – it can be as simple as an unsuspected compliment or two!
Register for DOLLY's Kindness Day here!
Struggling for some inspiration? Check out how DOLLY staffers will be sharing the love around.
Tiffany – Editor
“I’m going to call my nanna for a long chat (and let HER be the first one to say goodbye for a change!). Plus team DOLLY can expect a little surprise…”
Harriet - Deputy Editor
"My mum is getting back from an overseas trip so I’m going to clean the house and buy some fresh flowers for her. I'm also going to pick up a book by her fave author so she can relax the jet lag away."
Lotta – Fashion Editor
“I am planning on baking a cake for my boyfriend’s auntie – she always gives me advice when I need it.”
Jess – Fashion Assistant

“On DOLLY’s Kindness Day, I plan on donating my old clothes to charity.”
Rebecca – Deputy Chief Sub Editor
“I will give a (genuine) compliment to strangers – like that guy at the coffee shop, the check-out chick at my local grocery store and the old lady who lives in my apartment building.”
Sara – Beauty Editor
“My housemate is always running late to our weekly exercise class and she gets stressed out about not having her equipment ready. So on DOLLY’s Kindness Day I’m going to get there early and set it all up for her. It should be a nice surprise!”
Dani – Editorial Coordinator
“I’m going to make someones day in the office by brewing them a cup of tea!”

Crystal – Deputy Art Director
“I’m going to design a cute picture and quote for all the DOLLY girls and leave it on their desks.”
Leni – Online Editor
“I’m going to let each one of the DOLLY girls know exactly why I love them – on a post-it note!”
Yas – Chief Sub Editor
“I’m going to post a letter to my nanna in Fiji so she knows I’ve been thinking about her!”
And some more ideas...
• Hide a Post-it with a compliment in it in your friend’s textbook.
• Help out your little bro by doing his chores.
• Volunteer to wash the car for mum and dad for $0.
• Spend an afternoon with your nanna or grandpa. It will be a highlight for them.
• Offer your buddy a massage after a long study period at the library.
• Donate $2 to the Ronald McDonald house next time you buy that cheeseburger.
• Offer to tutor a friend for a couple of hours who is struggling with their maths homework.
• Hand out Freddo frogs to some friends you don’t usually sit with at lunch.
• Stand up for a stranger on the bus so they can take a seat.
• Leave a couple of silver coins in the vending machine for the next person.
• Step to the sideline at netball so as to give your friend (who’s ball skills aren’t as amazing as yours!) a fair go.
• Surprise your family by cooking them a dessert. Chocolate pudding anyone.
• Offer to help an elderly person by carrying their groceries to their car.
• Drop some coins in a stranger’s garden so they find them when they are weeding.
• Friend had a sickie? Make her a Get Well card with glitter and pretty stickers.
• Clean out your wardrobe and drop your old threads in a charity clothing bin.
• Pick a random address in the White pages and post an anonymous Valentine’s day card.
