Leni Andronicos - Online Editor

Wednesday, October 20, 2010
Name: Leni Andronicos
Position: Online Editor

How did you score your job at DOLLY?
While studying a Bachelor of Creative Industries at the Queensland University of Technology, I spent my downtime getting my portfolio together, writing for a few online fashion magazines and interning at a fashion label.

I then scored the job as Producer for 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty and was flown down to Sydney for a two month contract. Only a few weeks into the job, my team took me under their wing and I started contributing to CLEO part time. It soon became obvious that I wasn’t going home any time soon.

When my contract at CLEO and 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty was coming to an end, I heard the gig as Online Editor at DOLLY was coming up and I just had to go for it. When I found out I got the job, I couldn’t hide my excitement. Who would have thought just two years out of high school I would land my dream job.

What does your job at DOLLY involve?
As Online Editor, dolly.com.au is my baby. I spend my day hunting for the juiciest celebrity gossip, writing fashion and beauty articles, interviewing celebrities and covering exciting events like awards shows and celebrity photo shoots. Tough life, I know.

What do you love most about working at DOLLY?
I honestly don’t know where to start. I’m living my dream, and it’s the greatest feeling. Being a part of the DOLLY team means I get to work with some of the coolest girls ever, hang out with celebrities and dressing up every day is fun too!

What’s the hardest part?
Being the first to break the latest celebrity goss is always hard work. I’ve got to keep my eyes and ears open all the time, even if that means putting together a story on a Sunday. Deadlines are scary too!

What advice do you have for anyone who wants to work at mags?
Whether you want to break into online media or the magazine industry the key is work experience, I couldn’t stress the importance of it enough. Getting out there and experiencing the industry first hand is the best way to learn the ins and the outs of the industry. You might have to start out doing the coffee run, but with a little hard work and the right attitude, you’ll land that dream job. Don’t be afraid, just go out and get it!
