Name: Edwina Carr
Position: Editorial Coordinator
How did you score your job at DOLLY?
While completing my Journalism degree I interned at a magazine across the hall from DOLLY and would often gaze in, wondering what exciting things the DOLLY girls were doing. I heard that the job of Editorial and Production Coordinator was up for grabs and I just had to apply. When I found out I got the job I couldn’t wipe the grin of my face for days!
What does your job involve?
My job centres around keeping the editorial office running smoothly. So I answer calls, reader enquiries, sort the mail, write for the mag and help out the lovely work experience girls.
What do you love most about working at DOLLY?
I’m surrounded by the amazingly talented DOLLY staff, gorgeous clothes in the fashion department and all the latest beauty products – what’s not to love? Plus, I get to talk about what celebs like Katy Perry and Taylor Lautner are up to and it’s classified as ‘work’!
What advice do you have for anyone who wants to work at mags?
Work experience is the (only) way into the magazine industry. Be willing to do anything and everything to score your dream job – this can range from photocopying to attending awesome industry events – be prepared for the exciting stuff and the not-so-exciting stuff!
Favourite celebrity?
At the moment I have a massive celeb-crush on Emma Watson. She’s stylish, environmentally-conscious (she’s got her own organic, fair-trade clothing line!) and isn’t "too famous" to get an education – she’s studying Literature at Brown University.
