Demi Lovato gives first look at recovery in new MTV special

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Demi Lovato will give fans an inside look at her recovery from "emotional issues" in a new MTV special, Demi Lovato: Stay Strong.

In the just-released trailer, the 19-year-old starlet lets cameras follow her as she tours and recovers from her time at a treatment facility for issues that included an eating disorder, self-harm and bipolar disorder.

The TV special also touches on her reluctance to become a role model, with Demi revealing; "When I first started in the industry everyone kinda just made me a role model, and I hated that. I had so many issues underneath that needed to be taken care of."

Fans will also hear her speak openly about her time in an Illinois treatment facility and follows her first battle with food on Thanksgiving.

"I wanted to share my story but I knew it had to be honest, it had to be real," the former Disney starlet said. "I'm not fixed. This is a daily battle but I continue to work my butt off because now I want to be a legitimate role model."

Stay Strong debuts on MTV this March. Will you be tuning in?
